Fontecchio is worth a wander, and there are plenty of traditional restaurants nearby. In town, just under a kilometer from San Pio, you’ll find a bar, grocery, butcher, post office, and pharmacy. The Stiffe Caves are only 10 minutes away, and in August there are local festivals. Giorgio’s passion for the area comes through in the useful tips he shared about visiting. He was always available for our requests, even getting the lovely wood stove heated hot tub ready. The house for two had everything we needed. The apartments are in a quiet village with a botanical garden just outside, which Giorgio tends himself. It reminded me of Santo Stefano di Sessanio, only more peaceful and authentic. The mountain views are spectacular, and the drive there is good even after leaving the highway, with supermarkets and shops along the way. I was pleasantly surprised and would happily return.

We spent a week here with our family and had a wonderful time in this lovely spot surrounded by nature. It’s very peaceful, and the owner was consistently kind and helpful. The advice he gave us was spot on. Highly recommended.

The house was reasonably clean, but the soundproofing was poor and we could hear every noise from the neighbors. Outside, the tables weren’t clean, and the area didn’t look like the photos. The pool is really only suitable for children. There’s no service or much of anything there, and all the attractions are at least 40 minutes away. For what it offers, it’s too expensive. It’s only suitable if you want to be completely away from services, attractions, and comforts.

It’s an incredible village, with holiday homes dotted around, a garden with a small pool, a sauna, and a hot tub. A great place to rent with friends, recharge, or hold yoga and holistic healing sessions. The owner is passionate, and there’s a vegetable garden available. We’ll definitely be back.
