Hotel Capizzo

The people at Hotel Capizzo made our stay feel special. Vincenzo was helpful and cheerful whenever we had a question, and Augusto, the restaurant maitre, was welcoming, kind, professional, and full of suggestions. The hotel and restaurant staff were always attentive and lovely to talk to. The room and shared spaces stayed spotless, which made it easy to relax after the beach. We felt incredibly comfortable and at ease, and I can’t wait to return next summer. We came for a week on a surprise trip for my parents. Even the booking process was clear and simple. Vincenzo guided me through the details and gave us useful tips before we arrived. At check-in, we got the main policies and a leaflet packed with helpful information. After the journey, the room and sea view made us forget how tired we were. Breakfast had lots of variety, including local sweets and pastries. I loved the croissants and sweets, and there were plenty of savory choices too. I’ve traveled a lot and can be a picky guest, but the care and dedication here made all of us feel looked after. We had a decent stay and thought the hotel was good value, with helpful, friendly staff and a spectacular view from our balcony. The furniture really needs updating, both for its looks and how it works. The so-called double bed was two small beds pushed together, leaving an uncomfortable gap. The staff added a topmat when we brought it up, which helped, but the bed still wasn’t great. Many online photos show a white facade, but the hotel is actually painted a rather silly yellow, which slightly spoils the pool area’s feel.

The views are stunning, with part of the island and the sea in sight. Our stay was great, and the room was spacious, clean, and well equipped. There’s a hair dryer in the bathroom, along with towels, hand soap, and shower gel. The room also has a small fridge, a safe, and space for clothes. The reception is open 24/7, and the nearby bar serves drinks at any hour. For the pool you need a swim cap, but you can buy one at reception for 3€ if you don’t have one. Breakfast was good, with boiled eggs, omelettes, vegetables, bacon, mortadella, yogurt, granola, oats, cornflakes, juice, coffee, milk, cakes, bread, fruit, and croissants.

Rafael, who works the night shift at reception, was really nice and funny. The rest of the rules made our week at this “family hotel” frustrating. When we arrived, the receptionist said the pool would close at 19:00, in 15 minutes. That seemed early, but we accepted it. Then we found out we needed bathing caps, which the website hadn’t mentioned, and had to buy them for 3 euro each. We had younger children with us, and they were told they couldn’t bathe for more than five minutes at a time. At 23:33 they turned off our lights by pulling the plug, saying people usually sleep then. This was all because the owner slept in the room next to ours and didn’t let us stay up when she was going to bed.
