Castiglione Village

I wanted to respond quickly because I thought the previous review was misleading. You may get more out of your stay if you're fluent in German or Italian. I booked a full-board package, and this hotel isn't expensive. The setting is stunning, my room was spotless, and fresh towels came every day. The pools stayed toasty even in the rain. The men were polite and definitely not pushy. Reception was the weakest part: staff were efficient but cold, so they didn't add much to the experience. If you'd been moved here from a luxury resort, it might not be your thing, but that's not what I found during my stay.

I almost never post a bad review, but I feel I should warn people, especially women traveling alone. I had to spend two nights here because the other hotel hadn't quite finished its renovations, and I nearly left as soon as I checked out this morning. The place was in awful shape and quite dirty, with everything so old it seemed ready to fall apart. Breakfast was yogurt, premade cake, a croissant, and fizzy water in a plastic cup. The female staff were friendly and did their best to make my stay pleasant. The male staff, though, wouldn't accept no and made me feel unsafe with strange remarks and compliments, then kept asking me to go somewhere with them after I'd politely refused several times. It was horrifying, and such a shame on a beautiful island.

For a three-star hotel, this was really bad. Both the room and bathroom were dirty. There was no AC remote, and the phone was broken, so I couldn't contact reception directly. Maybe it was a good hotel in the early 2000s, but now it's just disgusting. I wouldn't recommend it, and it wasn't worth the money.

The rooms were disappointing, and the resort had lots of problems. We asked to move rooms because my husband had had cruciate ligament surgery, but they came up with excuse after excuse to avoid changing it. Breakfast was meager and only sweet food, with endless queues both there and at the dinner buffet. I strongly advise against it.
