Hotel Mareluna Ischia

We couldn't sleep all night because the room faced the street and traffic was loud. There were no windows, and the wind made a lot of noise through a hole in the bathroom ceiling. I had booked one night through booking.com with extra beds for my friends and me, including one additional person. At the hotel, we were told an extra bed had to be added and were moved to a different room. It was the worst sleep of my life. I don't recommend this place.

We loved our stay. It was peaceful and romantic, and Francesco was a lovely, helpful host. The place is open in winter too. Baia di Sorgeto is very close, and it's a handy base for hiking on Monte Epomeo or catching the bus to see the island.

The manager was friendly and the bathroom was clean, but otherwise we were really disappointed. There was mould along the door frames in our room. When we told the manager, there was no apology, just equipment for us to clean it ourselves. The room was dark, with no windows, and very noisy. We could hear people upstairs, in the entry, and in other rooms. The beds were uncomfortable, two old, sagging single mattresses on a double frame. The place felt run down, and the online photos didn't match its current condition or available facilities. Furniture was old throughout. Outside, the patio furniture was mismatched and dirty, so we had to wipe it down every day. On the roof terrace, the fake grass had been torn up, leaving a black, gross surface. There was no furniture like in the photos, just dead plants in pots and a few broken old plastic tables and chairs. Inside our room, the desk and bedside tables were broken and dirty, chipped, scuffed, and coming apart.

I've stayed with Francesco for a second time now. He's a wonderful, welcoming host, and I'll definitely come back again!
