Hotel Masini

The rooms are simple but clean, and the staff are friendly and helpful. It's right in the center. The soundproofing could be better: even on the fourth floor, we heard street noise with the windows and shutters closed, and the ventilation system was noticeable too. The minibar fridge was a bit understocked.

The location is nice, but the service was terrible. We had to call for more tissues because they seemed to be economizing, and after the next day's cleaning there was still just one towel for a room with two people. The bathroom light was flickering, so we expected it to be fixed while we were out. When we returned in the evening it hadn't been, and we had to call in the middle of the night. The man on duty tried, but couldn't fix it. By the next morning the light was completely out.

I couldn't sleep, so this hotel was no use to me. A dog in the next room barked constantly, and reception wouldn't move me without the manager's approval. There were plenty of empty rooms, but the manager was having his afternoon sleep and couldn't approve a move until seven. So much for a siesta. The hotel itself is actually okay, but be careful with places advertised as pet friendly.

The receptionist was kind, and breakfast was decent. The price isn't high, but there are plenty of other places that offer better value. The hotel feels like it dates from the eighties in every way. The rooms are old and badly in need of renovation, and there's a persistent bad smell in both the corridors and the room.
