The front desk team were a real highlight, friendly and helpful all through our stay, and the breakfast staff were welcoming too. Breakfast had a decent range, including dishes made to order. Housekeeping was great, especially the cleaner on our floor, who was kind and flexible about our schedule. We spent three nights at Hotel Montecatini Palace over a friend's wedding weekend, Friday to Monday. Before arriving, I needed to adjust our booking, and that was handled smoothly. We got in late and were warmly received. Our fifth-floor room was nicely designed and worked well, and the facilities were clean and well kept. The one persistent annoyance was a smell from the shower drain, even when we ran the water regularly. We had a comfortable time in Montecatini, with very good service throughout.

The staff were lovely and helpful, and everything was clean. I was especially glad to find a kettle, coffee maker, and tea bags in the room. The hotel restaurant was good too. There was a sauna, jacuzzi, rooftop pool, and bar, so it was a nice spot to unwind, though it was pricey and we were still satisfied. Our room was warm and small. We barely slept the first night, and with the window open it was bright and noisy in the morning. The AC was under the table, which may have been why.

It looks attractive from outside, but we had a serious problem with the air conditioning in our room. We complained several times, including in the middle of the night, and got no fix. Only at 11 PM on the second night, after more complaints, did they offer us another room. The hotel said it would reimburse all the costs, but we still haven't received anything or had a response.

I expected better than this. My friends and I are here while touring Tuscany, and we're surprised it's rated five stars. The quality feels mediocre, though I could accept that if I'd expected a three-star place. The restaurant is really overpriced, and the rooms weren't ready for check-in at 2:00 PM. The room floor is cheap laminate, warped and bubbling up. I sent a few small laundry items at 8:00 AM after being told they had to be in by 11 and would be back by noon the next day, but they weren't returned when promised. You also can't control the room temperature. The hotel's website shows the front lit up at night, but they never switch those lights on, even though we've asked. We'd like to sit out front, and the other places in the neighborhood are lit and welcoming. I poured myself a glass of water in the lobby and was chased to the elevator and told, "you cannot bring that to your room!" It was only a cheap plastic glass. I attached a photo showing the bubbling floor.

The room was pleasant, but watch the items placed by the water. The biscuit and wine beside it looked complimentary, yet neither had the complimentary label attached, and they weren't free. We were also charged 7 euros more for the wine than others on our trip.
