My family thought the rooftop pool was good. The hotel has lifts to every floor, though wheelchair access through the doors would be difficult. There's a bar and restaurant, both okay, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Inside, the building is well maintained, with large public rooms and chandeliers, though the exterior looks a little tired and it was clearly grander in the past. Montecatini Terme itself felt a bit run down. Apparently it's mainly hotels for tour company stopovers, which seems about right. I wouldn't choose the town as a holiday base. That's what brought the hotel down for me.

The food was awful, and I ordered veal but was served pork. The rooms smelled so bad I couldn't sleep, and the staff were rude. Metal beams from the electric front door fell on my friend. They refused to call an ambulance, didn't apologize, and treated us horribly.

The room was nicely decorated, with a good-sized bed for my wife and me. The ensuite was clean and a decent size, but it had no bath, which we'd been hoping for after two days on a bus from the UK. There was only a fixed shower behind a small sliding door, and I couldn't fit through it. In 30-plus-degree heat, I had to wash at the sink instead. Pretty embarrassing, though I suppose it's an incentive to lose weight. Breakfast was chaotic when the dining room filled up. Guests queued at the coffee machine, food had run out, and I ended up with a slice of cake. We could have waited for the friendly catering staff to restock, but we had a limited window before our coach excursion. Dinner was okay, and they tried to accommodate my wife's vegetarian diet, but it was a set menu with no choices, and even water cost extra. It looked like a lovely hotel, but I don't think I'll return.

The rooftop pool was a welcome escape from the heat, with amazing views, and both the room and bathroom were lovely. The hotel was clean. But the staff need a serious lesson in customer service. RUDE STAFF! We were there for two nights on a Cosmos Tour that left Rome on 9 June 2024. There was no hot water jug in our room, so I asked reception and was told I could get hot water from the bar anytime. On the second night, during dinner, I asked the waitress for hot water to make my own tea. She said it wasn't possible, then went to speak to a blonde-haired woman at reception. That woman came in and told me she'd charge 3 euros for a cup of hot water. Rude and a rip-off.

We thought the constant strange noise in the room sounded like rats. It even woke us at 4 a.m. When we asked the hotel staff for help, they said it might be coming from the bathroom and left without doing anything. That night was especially awful and seriously affected our trip.
