Hotel Monte Fior

The owners' sarcasm, at least, is very funny 💪. Still, for what this place costs, I think guests can expect better service. This was an absolutely unprofessional experience. I left my complaint on Booking.com, and the owners threatened to contact customer service to stop me from staying at other hotels. The breakfast was easy to forget, with coffee I couldn't drink and desserts without any taste. The ATM wasn't working either. The bathroom was cramped, and moving the shower curtain sent water all over the place. There was noise all along the hallway from a group of young people, and nobody seemed to keep the building tidy. On the night a band played in the square, it sounded as if they were right in the room, so getting any rest was impossible.

We had a good time overall, and the price was very much appreciated. I don't have big expectations, so I gave it two stars, though the whole place is dated. It's simple and family-run, and Nillo was courteous and friendly. There was a musty smell as soon as we came in. Maybe that was because they'd been closed after the lockdown, but we ended up disappointed. I hadn't planned to mention this little incident, but I never heard back from the owners, so here it is. At dinner on our last night, there were three worms on the table. We later worked out they had come from expired biscuits, and my toddler had already eaten half of them. I told Nillo, but he barely reacted and didn't apologize. We were shocked. I left one dead worm on the table, and it was still there the next morning. We moved it to the edge and had to keep an eye on the basket so the worms wouldn't fall out. I don't like posting things that could hurt a business, but they didn't even come to take the biscuits away or say a simple sorry. The closure due to COVID may have had something to do with it, but we were disappointed in the end.

The hotel was very clean and the food was good. Thanks to everyone on staff, especially Nillo and his sons. I'd recommend it to anyone visiting Foza or the nearby towns.
