Villa Di Papa'

We had a fantastic stay, with a lovely sense of privacy and peace despite being close to the center and main sights. The free parking on site was useful, and the hilltop setting gave us spectacular views over Gaeta, along the whole Caboto seafront and as far as the castle. Luca was exceptionally kind, helpful, and well informed about local attractions and services, and the property has arrangements with several beach resorts. We enjoyed the beautiful sea-view pool and the spacious, well-kept outdoor areas with plenty of equipment. Our room and breakfast were good too.

You can see the Gulf of Gaeta, its military port, and medieval Gaeta from this lovely, quiet B&B on a hill in Gaeta Nuova. Medieval Gaeta is about 2.5 km away, and I recommend having your own vehicle for getting there and around, though guests can park inside. Francesco and Luca were warm and helpful hosts. We found the rooms spacious, clean, and quiet, with air conditioning and a TV. The bathroom was large, with a roomy, beautiful shower and a low-impact hygiene kit. They cleaned daily and changed the linens when needed, at least every three days. Breakfast was generous and included, and there was a large outdoor area for meals. The garden was well maintained, with a pool to cool off in, plus umbrellas and loungers. The outdoor furniture is quite distinctive. A pleasant, enchanting place that I highly recommend.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, the service was top-notch, and the pool stayed clean. The hilltop location meant a wonderful view all the time. Luca was so kind and empathetic that we felt at ease straight away, as if he'd known us forever. Thanks as well to the woman who made breakfast, she was lovely and so kind to us. It felt magical. The villa has a charming feel, a panoramic view of the Gulf of Gaeta, and the main sights are fairly close. But we paid €410 for two nights, and the stay was miserable. Our biggest issue was the air conditioning. It had already been broken for five days, and the owner chose to rent us the room anyway for €410. We arrived on August 13th and 14th, when it was 40 degrees in the shade. He told us about the problem when we got there and said to switch the power off and on at the main panel. We tried every 10-15 minutes, but it never worked. Breakdowns happen, and we understand that, but we can't understand the bad faith in making us endure two scorching days. No room change was offered. If the room couldn't be used, they only had to tell us and we wouldn't have stayed. The pool looked bigger in the photos, which were a little misleading. It was a standard pool, and the water was so cloudy that maintenance had to be done during the day, making it unusable at a prime time. We already sweated through the nights, then had the daytime heat too. Breakfast had plenty of sweet choices but few savory ones. The gardens weren't well maintained either. A little outdoor insecticide for insects, mosquitoes, and ants, plus some attention to mowing, would help. We found ants in our room, bed, and bathroom. The place deserves better care.
