Hotel Alla Rocca

Really nice owners, and the food is good with fair prices.

The prices are excellent for this location, right in the center of Garda and a few steps from the lakefront. My single room was simple, clean, and had everything I needed, and the shared bathroom was clean too. Breakfast was plentiful and the staff friendly. It isn't a luxury hotel: there's no air conditioning, and with the street noise it's hard to leave the window open.

The location is very handy, just 50 meters from the lake. It's a 1-star hotel, so expectations should be modest. There are shared bathrooms on each floor. In the single rooms, there's a bed, closet, sink, and mirror. They give you keys to get back into the hotel without waking anyone.

The owners deserve the stars for their courtesy and willingness to help. Without them, I'd say avoid this place at all costs. The building has serious shortcomings, though perhaps 'inn' is a better word for it. Single rooms have a sink and share a bathroom on the floor; toilets are only in double/twin rooms. A double room has a sink in the room, with the toilet and shower in a separate room. The room is barely bigger than a telephone booth, the bidet is plastic, and most of the furnishings were already outdated in Pope Paul VI's time. At €35 for a single in mid-September, the price seems a bit high, even by the lake's standards. I travel for work and know what I'm talking about. THE STARS ARE ONLY FOR THEM.
