Hotel Elis

The only people who really helped us were Luigi and Maria, along with the receptionists, including Fiore. They were kind and did what they could to meet our needs. The last couple of days were a little better, with separate lunch and dinner shifts, but we still went home more stressed than when we arrived. We’ll come back to Gatteo a Mare, just not to this hotel. We stayed August 14th to 21st and arrived at 7:30 in the morning, but didn’t get our room until four hours later. The building is old and poorly cared for. Our closet drawer was broken, the furniture was dated, the shower had mold and no rail, and dust covered the room. The floor was so dirty my son's feet turned black, so I had to clean it myself. On our first day they sent us to eat in the other building, the Elis. It was crowded, with no social distancing. The dishes and glasses were damp, some were dusty, and mine had a white film on it. We refused to eat there and asked the owners to move us to the Corallo dining room. Service was disorganized and hygiene was poor in the shared areas. They never changed the cloth tablecloths, only put disposable ones over them. The child's car seat was always dirty, so I cleaned it with sanitizing wipes. Sometimes we waited over an hour for our child to be served. The food needs work and was often cold. The buffet appetizers were always the same, sometimes carried over from the previous evening with different seasoning and not reheated. Everyone seemed to be complaining. This setup isn't suitable for accommodating people, especially children. There are too few staff to manage three properties, and the waiters and receptionists looked exhausted from the daily stress.

The place itself is adequate, but the organization was poor. The rooms looked as if they’d been furnished with things picked up beside the dumpsters, and guests weren’t properly looked after at reception, in the kitchen, or during the evening event. I wouldn’t recommend it for a winter stay.

Corallo Hotel, Elis Hotel, and Garden Hotel are part of the same chain. Corallo is the best of them, while Elis is the WORST!!! The food is poor, and they give you a tiny portion: two raw sausages and four potatoes. I’d show you the photo. Complain and you’re in trouble! The staff are RUDE and the room was dirty. AVOID!
