I regret booking this room. It looked nothing like the photos online: dirty, smelly and badly maintained. The sheets had stains, the bathroom was moldy, the furniture seemed broken and old, and the bed was so uncomfortable I couldn’t sleep. This isn’t a hotel or even a hostel, just a room in a very old flat with lots of stuff. The owner was aggressive, as if I were staying in her own room instead of renting a hotel room. If you want to spoil your vacation, stay here. Save your money and holiday and go somewhere else.

The apartment was nice, very old-style and extremely clean, and the host was so kind. We forgot a few things, and Manuela mailed them to us, which was really sweet. It’s fairly central, beside a bus stop that can take you almost anywhere, or about a 20-minute walk from the centre. Breakfast was a bit limited, and the options changed from day to day. Sometimes there was no milk or fresh bread, just shop-bought items. The room warmed up very quickly.

The room had a real Italian feel, and the host was nice and ready to help. From the window, you can see the sea and the city. Public beaches are farther away and outside the centre, so ask the host how to get there.

Manuela made our stay feel easy and relaxing, and we really appreciated her kindness and help. I found Il Ciottolo while searching for a B&B near Brignole station. It's on the third floor of a lovely Genoese building, with three bedrooms, a breakfast space and a shared bathroom, all clean and cared for. The area felt safe even late at night, and it was easy to get around Genoa. Thanks for looking after us.

The owner was so warm and helpful, and the place had a real at-home feel. Breakfast was generous, and both the roomy bathroom and the spacious bedrooms were clean. The rooms also look really lovely. I'd happily come back.
