Caravan Park La Vesima

The facilities were clean, but dated, and the price felt high for what you get. The pitches are cramped together with little privacy, and the hard ground made putting up our tent difficult. The beach and sea are stony, so special shoes are needed. It’s a few kilometers from town, which meant we couldn’t walk to restaurants or shops. The bar and mini shop had very little to choose from. I wouldn’t recommend staying for long.

We paid €85 for one night with our motorhome and four adults, after choosing the place from its online photos. It was disappointing once we arrived. The view was poor, there were lots of fences, and two train lines next to the camping area made it noisy at night. The toilets had no liquid soap, and the toilet paper was kept outside, so you had to take some in with you. There were no hooks in the showers, and the shower cubicles were old and worn. We arrived at 5:30 in the afternoon and left early the next morning.

The restaurant surprised me, the food was excellent even though it’s a small venue, and it serves as a cafe during the day. There are plenty of water points around the site, too. We picked this campsite as a stopover to keep the drive to the next one manageable, but wished we’d stayed longer. Staff and other campers were very friendly, and the private beach entrance was a real plus. It never got crowded while we were there, unlike other beach sites we saw. Our pitch was beside the train track. Trains weren’t an issue during the day, but they start around 4am and could wake light sleepers. Ask for a pitch well away from the tracks. It’s a brilliant place for swimming in the Mediterranean.

The receptionist was welcoming and kind, but the place itself felt rundown and loud, and €44 per night didn’t seem worth it. There’s no toilet paper, the restrooms smell unpleasant, and the showers have no lighting at night. The water also rarely gets warm.
