Eleganza e Stile a Fontane Marose by Wonderful Italy

The apartment could be lovely, especially if you like older places with character, but it was dirty and uncomfortable when I arrived. There was a strong urine smell in the bathroom, stale bedding, and stains around the flat. I ended up buying bleach and cleaning myself, which shouldn’t be part of a holiday. The sofa looked untidy, smelled as if someone had slept on it, and hadn’t been plumped up. The cleaner and management seemed to have made no effort to get the place ready for a guest. (See photos attached.) It was also unbearably hot. The one fan barely reached the bed, and an extractor meant I had to leave a window open at night, letting in bugs and city noise. I woke up with mosquito bites. Management, “not so-wonderful Italy,” took more than 24 hours to reply. By then, sending a cleaner was too late, and a surface clean wouldn’t have fixed the deeper hygiene problems anyway. I left halfway through the second night of a four-night stay and got a refund for only one night, though the apartment clearly wasn’t fit to use. That cost me hundreds of euros and hours of stress as I tried to rebook at the last minute. The company was disorganized and uninterested in helping. I was passed between four WhatsApp contacts, each sending me to someone else. I eventually reached someone through booking.com, but there was still no urgency or accountability. The final message was, “We’re truly sorry to hear that your experience was disappointing and that you’ve decided to check out early. Best regards.” Laughable, really. They seemed to care only about the money. The apartment has potential, but it needs someone who cares about hospitality and upkeep. If the owner reads this, get a new management company and cleaner. Very disappointing.
