Breakfast was good, and the place had a quiet, relaxed feel. The building has character, and nothing felt too formal, but I still felt well looked after. Staff were friendly and helpful from the moment I arrived, and my room was clean, maintained well, and had what I needed. Hotel Helvetia is well placed for the old town and Porto Antico area. I had a great stay and would absolutely come back to Genova.

We’ve stayed in plenty of places on our travels, but it’s rare to find a hotel this well managed and focused on its guests. The staff were professional and so helpful that they noticed we’d forgotten a key before we did, then kindly mailed it to us. Hotel Helvetia was spotless, in an excellent location, and the breakfast was delicious. The value for money was outstanding too. We’d return in a heartbeat.

The rooms were clean and tidy, and both the service and staff were very good. The hotel is in Genoa’s historic district, in a very good location.

My single room with an en suite was a decent size, and the bed was very comfortable. It looked a little dated, but that didn’t bother me. There was some noise from the side alley, though I could still sleep. The main drawbacks were the dull decor and bathroom tiles, and the corridors could use a fresh coat of paint. The position was excellent, a short distance from Piazza Principe train station, with various buses stopping outside. It’s a downhill five minute walk to the harbour. Staff were very friendly, and breakfast was good.
