Hotel Fiumara

I went straight to the hotel after my plane landed at 12:30, but at 1:30 am I was left stranded because they’d sold my room ten minutes before I arrived. They did at least offer to check me in at 8 am. The receptionist didn’t respond when I pressed the buzzer, and when I called to say I was there for my reservation, he kept telling me, “we’re full.” Eventually he let me in only to explain that my room had been sold to someone else. The lady then yelled at me in Italian, apparently because I hadn’t arrived before midnight. I’d only booked after landing, so getting there before midnight was hardly possible. If they don’t want guests arriving after midnight, they shouldn’t accept reservations after midnight. And they shouldn’t yell at would-be guests because they’ve oversold. The property didn’t look very nice, either, and there’s quite a big set of stairs up to reception.

We arrived very late, but the staff were still so kind, polite, and friendly. The welcome was great, and the room was super clean and comfortable. Everything was perfect.

We’d booked one night for a business trip, but the rooms were freezing, under 10 degrees Celsius, when we arrived. There was no water pressure, so we couldn’t shower. Breakfast was awful, the coffee undrinkable, and I’ll leave the rest unsaid.

The hotel was dirty and smelled bad. We left after only a few minutes, but weren’t reimbursed for either the unused room or the tourist tax. I hope this helps someone avoid having their holiday spoiled.
