Midnight in Genova

Lorenzo, the owner, was very friendly and pleasant. The place was clean and nice, though a little cold and noisy for us. I was surprised no one else seemed to mention that it isn’t really a hotel. It’s an apartment converted into a guesthouse with only 3 rooms, each with its own bathroom, plus a shared area with tables, a small hall, and a little kitchenette. You can check in and out by yourself. The walls are thin, so you hear every movement from the other guests, and there’s plenty of street noise too. I’d also seen other reviews praising the soundproofing and breakfast, but that wasn’t our experience. Breakfast might suit Italians, but don’t expect much beyond a croissant and tea or coffee. I have doubts about whether some of the other reviews are real.

The owner was lovely and very smart, spoke many languages, and made us love both the place and the city. Our room was big, comfortable, and luxurious, with a spacious shower, and felt worth the money. Breakfast was good, although there wasn’t much variety. We’ll come back someday.

The host paid close attention to the details and was very helpful. The rooms were clean and nice. Best stay in Genova!
