Hotel La Rusticana

They were welcoming.

We had a great time on our class trip to Giardini Naxos. The owners and staff were really kind and helpful, and the location was great. Our rooms were clean and tidied every day. Breakfast was simple but really tasty: rolls, four kinds of jam, Nutella, cornflakes, milk, juice and water. Five stars!

We found the owners very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was decent. The rooms were clean too, but the facilities feel old and need updating. The mattresses weren't comfortable, and there's no elevator, so hauling suitcases upstairs was a pain. The location looks great on paper, right near the seafront and main beach clubs. But the poor soundproofing meant we could hear thumping nightlife, a noisy pub that stayed open late, and school groups and teenagers who seemed to stay there regularly. We practically couldn't sleep. Rest matters, even on vacation. For what we paid, we'd have preferred somewhere more suitable. Fine for one night, but I wouldn't recommend it for a longer stay.

The worst part was the cockroaches in both the room and bathroom. We had to kill one, then called the front desk, but they said there was nothing they could do and that we could only leave. They didn't even remove the stool we'd used to kill it, just left it in the room. There were four of us in two double rooms for one night. From the moment we walked in, everything looked dirty, especially the bathroom, where hygiene should matter most. The shower was black with grime, and there were what I presume were blood stains too (photo attached). The owner was rude and accused us of being rude when we reported the problems. He wanted to kick us out. Maybe they don't see how dirty the rooms are, or maybe they pretend not to. Either way, it's a complete disgrace. Zero hygiene. If you don't want to sleep with cockroaches, don't go. We won't be back. Thorough sanitization is needed, though even that won't be enough. 😉
