Belvenu Boutique Hotel

The wellness area on the top floor looks out over the village and the surrounding area, and the hotel has an authentic restaurant next door. I was here for one night during a weekend bike tour and was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. My room was lovely and spacious, and there’s a secure bike room with tools and card access. The village is a beautiful hidden treasure in the heart of the Tirol. Great value for the setting and facilities.

There’s a secure bike garage, and it even has a washing machine. The rooftop sauna and jacuzzi look out over the Reschenpass. I’d recommend booking half-board, and for anyone wondering, Belvenu and Grüner Baum are part of the same place.

We booked based on the rooms shown on the Belvenu website, but were given a room in the Gastof instead. It felt like bait and switch. The room was dated, with a sink that wouldn’t drain, old threadbare towels, a shower and tub setup that was a joke in the middle of the room, and the toilet in a closet. The meals were another disappointment: we chose half-board and left each evening unimpressed by the taste, quality, and presentation. The food looked nothing like the website photos. One salad was only greens and seemed to have been sitting out for hours before it was served. If we posted our own photos, the reviews might look different. The spa itself was nice, but the towel rules felt overbearing. Guests are expected to carry a wet, sweaty towel back to their room to exchange it, and there’s no bin for used towels or extra towels available for showering. That’s not what I expect from a quality hotel. The main hostess at the restaurant was the one bright spot. She worked nonstop between all the tables and kept smiling through both dinner and breakfast. We won’t return. We left two days early so we could stay somewhere that felt like a real hotel and spa and enjoy the last days of our holiday.
