From the outside, it looks like a stable. I booked through Booking.com, but found the property closed when I arrived. The owner called and brusquely said a broken boiler meant it was shut, then offered no suggestion for somewhere else to stay. He had apparently forgotten to take down the Booking.com reservations. I had to sort things out myself and was left completely without service. Avoid it and book somewhere else if you want to be sure of a night's sleep.

This was a really unusual place to stay. The house is packed with paintings, books, furniture, antiques, and all kinds of objects, so you feel like opening every drawer and door. It goes back to the early 1900s and has been changed over the years, especially during World War II, with plenty of traces of that time still there. Sergio owns it now, and he's both a great host and a skilled storyteller. I stayed here a few days ago with my girlfriend, and the rooms were very spacious.

The owner feels like history brought to life. We got to talk with him over breakfast, and it felt like sinking into a book that could go on forever. The rooms are spacious, and the building has real charm. A personal, one of a kind place for a thoughtful, present stay.

I was riding through the Apennines on a bike tour in 2022, a few years back now. The house is packed with all sorts of junk, but somehow it has charm, and the whole stay was very different. The host was a cavalrier appointed by Silvio Berlusconi and had plenty of stories to share. I'd come back.
