BGY Airport - La Cascinetta

The room was clean and the price was reasonable, and it’s a €16 taxi ride from the airport. The entrance is tucked away in a courtyard off the road. But better key security is needed, like a lock box. The keys had been left in the door, and at 2am people were sleeping in our room when we arrived. Giorgio and his partner responded quickly and helped get the imposters out and clean up in the middle of the night, but my friend and I were left waiting before we could sleep. We were promised a refund for the inconvenience, but it never came.

Once inside, we were warmly welcomed and found everything we needed, though the guesthouse sits in an inner courtyard that’s under construction and looks run-down at first. The airport is very convenient to reach, a nighttime taxi cost us €20. The host was a little slow to communicate, but the stay worked out fine for one night. There were a couple of small things to fix, likely left from the recent construction: a large exposed pipe in the bathroom and some sockets without covers. They were manageable details.

There was a bad smell and hair everywhere, and the room was terribly dirty. When I got there, somebody was already in my room. I had to wait a long time before I could get in, and the mess was disgusting. I only stayed because it was so late. If you want to avoid a nasty surprise, find somewhere else near the airport.

The room was great, but getting there was awful. It’s a 35-minute walk to the airport through an industrial park, which wasn’t what I’d expected.
