Guesthouse La Rocca

I paid for a reservation and was still left without a place to stay in the middle of the night 😭 My flight was delayed, and I had no internet or local SIM card. This had been discussed beforehand, and I was given clear instructions for arriving after midnight, which were explicitly confirmed. But the host assumed I wasn't coming because I didn't answer emails, and gave my paid room to someone else. I hadn't cancelled or refused to check in. I was simply in a foreign country at night with no connection. I ended up exhausted, taking taxis all around Bergamo to look for an available hotel. My one-day trip was ruined by the stress, with no sleep or rest. There was no apology or empathy, just attempts to blame me for expecting the bed I'd already paid for. The accommodation itself was dusty and uncomfortable. Breakfast was instant coffee and margarine. I spent a couple of hours sitting there at night and wound up talking with the neighbors, so it definitely isn't suited to introverts. I found the host's decision irresponsible, and the lack of accountability has consequences. If safety, comfort, and basic human decency matter to you, book a proper hotel instead.
