Navona Grand Suite

The rooms were quiet and private, and we felt like we had our own little apartment in Rome. We spent four nights here during the June heatwave, and it was such a relief to come back to ice-cold rooms. The room was lovely and very clean, updated while still keeping the building’s history and charm. The location was perfect, the staff were amazing, and check-in, check-out, and communication with management all went smoothly. I honestly can’t think of a single negative. This will be my only choice for future trips to Rome.

We got a good rest and the location was really convenient. The room could have been cleaner, though, since there was a large black stain on the headboard. I also wish there had been more comfortable places to sit than the two small, hard chairs.

We had a lovely stay, and I’d very likely come back to this characterful, elegant place and to Roma. I proposed to my now fiancée nearby, so booking here worked out pretty well. The setting is fantastic, with the Tiber in one direction, Piazza Navona the other, and Piazza del Popolo and Pincio terrace nearby too. On an evening walk we came across the Pantheon, which became one of our favorite places for a drink, breakfast, or dinner. The pizza and wine shop with barrel tables outside was also great for lunch, with individual squares or slices and Aperol Spritz. The communal coffee machine and cakes were a nice touch, especially early in the trip. The mini bar was reasonably priced but wasn’t cold, and it looked like replacement items were waiting. We couldn’t find a bottle opener either. The deluxe suites were listed on booking.com as including champagne, but it was missing, which was especially disappointing given the occasion and our short stay. It was late, but lukewarm Fanta didn’t quite do the job. I’d flagged it in advance, and they could at least have offered to sell us some, even though it was meant to be included. They let us leave our bags in the shared area on our last day and were helpful when our flights were cancelled because of a fire at Heathrow Airport. They responded quickly on WhatsApp, but those small details let the place down a bit. For a romantic evening, take comfy shoes and walk over the bridge at nearby Castel Saint Angelo at night on the way to the Vatican. It’s lovely in the daytime too, just busier.

The room had loads of space and lovely decor, and the staff were warm and hospitable. We felt at home coming and going during our vacation. We’re from New York, and staying here helped us get our bearings while planning our sightseeing. The location is a real sweet spot, with nearby sights mostly within walking distance and cafes, pizzerias, and restaurants all around. Two thumbs up!
