Agriturismo Buonavista - Parco della Maremma

I had a reservation with check-in from 3:00 PM, but when I got there at 5:30 PM, the entrance gate was locked and nobody was there to meet me. I rang the bell with no answer, then called the mobile number. A woman said she'd open the gate right away, but after waiting several more minutes I called back and they didn't answer. Later they got in touch and said I'd have to wait an hour for someone to let me in. I was traveling alone as a woman and didn't feel safe. I asked to cancel, but they kept my money. Shameful.

The location is lovely, surrounded by greenery and nature, and works well as a base for exploring the Maremma. The building, though, is dated and shabby. The bed creaked, some bulbs were burned out, and the shower was small and uncomfortable. Cleanliness also needs work, with hair in the bathroom, and there was little attention to detail. Amenities were lacking too: for three people staying six nights, there was only one roll of toilet paper. What a shame.

The big windows in the living area were wonderful, and the detached villa was in a peaceful, green setting. We only booked it for one night, which felt far too short. I hope I get the chance to return for longer.

Breakfast was great, served at the outdoor tables, and the staff were friendly. The Maremma countryside here feels like a peaceful hideaway, far from the crowds.
