The reception and housekeeping teams were kind and quick to help, and the whole holiday went smoothly. Our modern apartment had a fully fitted kitchen and a nice terrace for eating outside. It’s right by the beach, with a convenient beach bathroom just 100 meters away where we got a discount.

The reception staff were fabulous. The property is almost right by the sea. We booked half-board through an agency, but were told when we arrived that it wasn’t available then, so they refunded us the difference.

The location worked perfectly for the kind of holiday I wanted, where I could leave the car behind and get around on foot. The apartment was comfortable, and the staff were kind and helpful.

The only things I can praise about the hotel are how close it is to the sea and Miss SARA, who helped us pick places for our short trips. Our real bright spot was the Stella beach resort, run by Mr. Carlo. Its staff were polite, quick, helpful, and competent. The cleaning in our room was dreadful. There was always dust and lint around, the floor was NEVER washed, and the baseboards were filthy with old dust. The furniture was worn and wobbly, with barely enough storage for two or three people's clothes and belongings. There were no mosquito nets, no microwave, and no other oven. We had to ask for garbage bags on day three, then gave up and bought those and dish soap ourselves. For two weeks we paid €2,650, a five-star price, but in 15 days our towels were changed three times and the sheets only twice. One sheet change was two days after we arrived: after our visit to Saturnia, we napped without showering, and the sheets smelled strongly of sulfur. We asked a cleaner to change them and offered to pay, but she just left the sheets on the bed for us to put on ourselves. The second change came three days later, and that was the last one. The shower was cramped, with an awkward opening compared with the bathroom door. Water escaped from the tray and flooded the bathroom. The drain kept backing up, so I had to clean it several times, probably because hair and debris had clogged it somewhere underneath. The shower head and all the bathroom fittings were coated in limescale. The dark mirror and two weak lights made shaving impossible, so I used a headlamp from the car. I didn't like it at all. I’m telling the truth and have photos of these details. I can only give it one star, and even that feels undeserved.
