Villa Cavalletti

I think this is the only spot in Castelli Romani where you can get a continental breakfast without staying the night. I had mine on the rooftop, and the food was delicious. Great location.

We barely saw anyone after checking in, and nobody answered the phone. There wasn't anywhere on site to get food or a drink, or even bottled water unless you had cash. The gate is locked at night, so we had to haul all our luggage 400 meters along a dark track to meet our airport taxi. The free shuttle wasn't available either way. Getting to the airport takes at least 25 minutes, not 12, and a taxi costs 50 Euros. The place reminded me of the hotel in The Shining, though the service in the movie was better. This was the worst part of our short trip to Italy. Unless you're there for a wedding, I wouldn't stay here, and even then I'd think twice.

The front desk staff, day and night, were warm and went out of their way with recommendations. A few minutes away, Frascati has designer shops, good food, and an easy train connection. At Villa Cavalletti, we loved waking up to breakfast on the top terrace, with wide views of Rome and the hills. Everything tasted fresh and was served with care. The olive oil and wine tasting at the museum on site was another highlight. Our guide Lavinia knew the process inside out and made it engaging, and the flavors were extraordinary. The vineyards and olive trees across the 27 acres made a magical setting. Villa Cavalletti brings together nature, history, and hospitality so well. It was an unforgettable stay, and we can't wait to return.

I used to live in the area years ago, but this was my first stay at these premises. I had a great time and really appreciated how kind the staff were.
