Breakfast had a limited choice, though we liked the range of drinks, especially the freshly squeezed orange juice. The bed was too firm for us, unfortunately, but otherwise the accommodation suited our needs. Its spot in the heart of the old town made it an ideal base for our one night in Grottaglie.

I really didn’t want to leave the room! The design is gorgeous, with stone ceilings and arched doorways that suit the history while still feeling modern. Everything was laid out beautifully and was impeccably clean. The hotel is tucked down a little side street, but the center is very close.

Grottaglie is the capital of ceramic pottery in Puglia, and its historic center has narrow, beautifully decorated streets that feel very typical. The town seemed secure and calm, and there are plenty of free parking spots nearby. Our room was well located for walking to points of interest. We stayed one night, though a stay of 1-3 days could work depending on what you’re looking for and where you want to go. Reception speaks French, English, and Italian.

Everything else was perfect, but breakfast could use a wider selection of products. The breakfast room also felt a bit dull, a little music might make it more atmospheric than having a lifeless TV programme on.
