Cascina Cortine

The terrace breakfast was full of local treats, and our room had all the amenities we needed. Cascina Cortine sits among the vineyards, and Daniela and Bruno made us feel at home from the welcome drink onward. We were there for a wedding weekend at nearby Relais & Chateaux Castello di Guarene; they helped with restaurant reservations, shared tips on wineries, restaurants, and local sights, and were always up for a fun chat. A warm, relaxing, authentic place to stay in Piedmont. We had a superb, memorable time.

Daniela and Bruno’s restored 17th century farmhouse at Cascina Cortine has kept its original charm, and the views are stunning. We spent two days there while traveling through Piedmont, and from the start they treated us like honored guests. Daniela made sure we got a real taste of Italian culture: she arranged a visit to Guarene castle and a private tour of Cascina Chicco winery, whose underground cellars and wine were mind blowing. She also set up dinner at a local restaurant where the chef chose four courses and local wine was brought to the table in magnum bottles until we found one we liked. We paid for the experience, not the magnum bottles. The first evening, they invited us to a classical music festival in Guarene old town and handled a reservation at a local restaurant with a Michelin quality meal. The next morning Daniela served a wonderful breakfast in the lovely courtyard. We’re definitely coming back.

Daniela and Bruno are such lovely, accommodating hosts, and their place feels immaculate and inviting. The countryside is beautiful, the property is gorgeous, and I can’t recommend it enough.

We’ve stayed here twice, and I’m completely in love with the place. The rooms are comfortable and lovely, with vineyard views, and breakfast is superb. It’s a great base for the wine region: Alba, Barolo, Barbaresco, and other hilltop towns are about 10-15 minutes away. The proprietors seem to know everyone, make dinner bookings, and give detailed suggestions for things to do. They’re well connected around Piedmont and speak excellent English. Don’t stay anywhere else, this is it!
