The only real drawback for us was that there’s no food service apart from breakfast. Otherwise, it’s a peaceful place to recharge, well connected and surrounded by nature. Sulmona is five minutes away, while Scanno and other lakeside towns are about half an hour away. We stayed three days. The facility is spacious, has an area with donkeys that visitors can see, and offers supervised play areas and other fun for children. The owners were kind and helpful. It’s a decent spot for a few days away.

We came looking for quiet and left feeling we couldn’t have chosen better. The Locanda is peaceful, with clean air, nature, animals, good food, and spectacular views, far from the crowds at busy beaches. We’d happily recommend it and hope to return for a weekend between spring and Easter. Thanks to the staff for making our stay so enjoyable. The farmhouse is surrounded by greenery, about a 7-minute drive from Sulmona and the area’s main supermarkets. Distances are short, and the main mountain and seaside attractions can be reached in around an hour. The two owners were wonderfully welcoming, and the service was impeccable. Engineer Daniele’s advice helped us find some beautiful places. His wife was charming and friendly, and made a lovely breakfast. The rooms are basic but suited us, and everything was spotless, including the bathroom, which I think had been renovated recently. There’s air conditioning, a small handy fridge, and a TV. Daily cleaning isn’t provided; linens and housekeeping are changed every three days. Breakfast was excellent and plentiful, with croissants, toast, yogurt, cakes, fresh fruit from the property’s garden, and more. Just right for us, since we like a sweet breakfast. If you prefer savory food, tell the owners and they’ll be glad to help. There’s currently no food service, so the property is operating as a B&B. The donkeys are incredibly friendly, sociable, and adorable. We got especially attached to our favorite, the stallion. You can approach him; he’s lovely and affectionate.

The donkey farm’s educational work deserves a mention, and the breakfasts were excellent, including options for food intolerances. We spent two nights here. The rooms were cozy and clean, and the owners gave us a warm welcome. Highly recommended.

We came back after three years, and our first good impression held up. The setting is beautiful and green, with donkeys for children to see and ride. Staff are friendly and know their work, and Eugenio deserves thanks for the care he gives the donkeys. He showed my 7-year-old son how to bring one out of the stables, clean and saddle it, and ride it, while teaching him about these lovely animals. The food was delicious and generous, made with top-quality ingredients. We especially liked the Abruzzo-style pasta, grilled lamb, meatballs in tomato sauce, and tiramisu. 😊😊
