Hotel Cesare Augustus

Barbara at the front desk made us feel welcome, and Cozimo kept checking that we had what we needed. We caught a cold halfway through our first trip to Europe and Italy, so we had to extend our originally planned two-night stay. Everything about Hotel Cesare Augustus was outstanding, and we hope to return someday. Thank you for treating us so kindly.

The hotel has its own pool and beach with sun beds, and it’s right on the beach near restaurants and shops. The half-board deal is good value, with lots of seafood, fish, pasta, and salad. The staff are pleasant. I especially liked the man who served eggs at breakfast and grilled meat or fish at dinner. He made perfect boiled eggs and served the meat and seafood well. I also liked the barista at breakfast. The bedrooms have toilets with a water gun like in Asia, which is rare in Europe.

We stayed for a week from the 1st Sept and would return in a couple of years. The resort grew on us, with a welcoming evening atmosphere and a family-friendly feel. We didn’t see stag or hen parties. The hotel is right on the beach, while the main street about 80 yards behind it has plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops. It closes to traffic from 6pm, so families and couples can enjoy the evening there. Our room was cleaned daily, with fresh towels and bed linen. We were half board and thought dinner was excellent. The buffet selection was very good, with grilled fish, gambas prawns, ribeye steak, and plenty more. The menu is shown in the morning. Pool sunbeds cost 15 euros a day, which seems a lot, but they’re wider than a single bed and very comfortable. The pool is cool and refreshing if you’re brave enough. Reception staff spoke good English and were helpful.

The children had the best time, and Jeselo was superb for eating out, with spotless eateries. I also noticed no litter between the hotel, airport, and town. Shame on the UK and its towns and cities, which are a dumping ground. Great example, Italia! At the hotel, everyone clearly took pride in their work. Breakfast and dinner were absolutely delicious, and the staff were amazing, with nothing too much trouble. The hotel was spotless. The head chef was adorable and gave us a jar of the hotel-made pasta sauce and a bottle of wine from his own vineyard. Ervy from Albania was a great pasta chef while we were there, and the other Bangladeshi chef made the best scrambled eggs ever.
