L'Ostu del Povr-Om

We spent New Year's Eve there, and the hosts were really kind. The food was good, and the rooms were clean. The place could perhaps use a bit of updating.

The prices are in line with the market, and the cuisine is excellent. They always make you feel welcome.

We only had lunch there, not a hotel stay. The staff were very friendly, and the place is nice, but the cats wandering around were a problem because my wife is allergic. The wait was endless. After more than an hour, we had only had the appetizer, despite there being just two other tables to serve. The food was mixed: the assorted appetizer was good, though the Alba sauce was literally frozen, and the agnolotti were good too. The seafood risotto was passable. The tagliolini with porcini mushrooms were inedible, greasy and overcooked. I didn't like the venison, so I left it entirely. We had 3 appetizers, 4 first courses, 1 second course, 2 side dishes, 1/4 cup of wine, water, and peach tea, for a total of €78. That felt more than fair. I'm sorry to leave this review, because I think the owners deserve better, but I have to be objective. We won't be back :(

The fort is worth visiting. Fenestrelle Fort is just 20 km away, with 4,000 steps perched on the mountainside and 120 years of almost continuous construction. Breakfast was excellent, and everyone was very friendly.
