The place didn’t feel welcoming at all. The photos were misleading, it was very poorly cleaned, and there was an unpleasant musty smell. A terrible stay.

What an awful, unpleasant stay. The flat we were handed looked like a cross between a construction site and a rundown apartment, nothing like the photos of the modestly finished place we’d been shown. We were three people, but towels and shower gel were missing. An hour later they brought just two towels. I got upset, and he brought one more, still no shower gel. When I raised that again, at 8 pm all he brought was a mold. My wife and I could wash with the mold, I said, but what about the baby? He replied, “That’s all I have.” I was angry enough to send him away so I wouldn’t hit him. The rest was a mess too: stained sofa, smelly sheets and damp blankets, a bed with dangerous exposed appliances nearby for the baby, an air conditioner that only blew cold air, neglected furniture, a moldy bathroom, poor cleanliness, and a refrigerator rusted inside and out. He didn’t even give me a receipt, so I’m going to complain to the tax authorities. People like that shouldn’t stand a chance. I’m attaching a photo so you can judge for yourself.

Three nights of misery. I checked in at 8:00 PM and the place hadn’t even been swept. Despite the well-kept exterior, the ground-floor “apartment” was dirty, nothing like the listing, and the street-facing windows brought noise from buses, trucks, and people passing by. It’s a one-way street and a mandatory route, so there was no peace. The windows had to stay open to use the penguin air conditioners and their exhaust pipes, letting in smog and teachers. There were no mosquito nets, and light came through the door from dawn, making sleep nearly impossible. The furnishings looked salvaged from a landfill, including a two-tone fridge rusted where it used to be white. The bedroom door had a broken-in hole with dangerous splinters. The “house” wasn’t cheap, so I expected at least a proper clean. Opening the refrigerator felt like risking tetanus. The listing also boasts Wi-Fi, TV, BBQ, and a swing that don’t exist, as the attached photos show. The soap, shower gel, and shampoo. I’ve never seen such squalor. Everything with no traceability or required documents. And I almost forgot the musty, moldy smell.

We booked one night after being taken in by the photos on Booking.com, but the house we got looked nothing like them. It was damp and dirty, with mosquitoes, flies, and other insects everywhere. It’s near the cemetery and a long way from Ischia center. You can only get there by bus, and the service isn’t very frequent.
