Hotel Continental Mare

The breakfast was AMAZING, and the location is beautiful. The restaurant was very good too, though quite pricey. Its quality seemed higher than most of the restaurants down in the porto. Getting to the porto is a bit of a hike, with a steep climb up to the road and then a steep walk down to the harbour area. Our room was great overall and had all the necessities, but the A/C could only heat, since its cooling function was switched off. During our seven-day stay, cleaning meant folding the sheets, and they were never changed. The towels were changed every other day.

The views, gardens, and food were some of the best parts of our trip to Ischia. Our room was simple and clean, with a super comfortable bed. Still, for a 4-star hotel, having no coffee or kettle in the room feels so last century. Our friends in the next price level had both, plus free water each day. I hadn’t booked the cheapest room either, since mine was a sea view room. The view I paid for was almost there, though you could only see the sea a bit through the trees.

We were really comfortable in our beautiful room, with a great bed and lovely decor. Breakfast was delicious, and having it with a sea view made for a great start to the day. All the staff were friendly and professional. I loved how immaculate and well-kept the hotel and grounds were. On arrival I was blown away by the beauty of the place, the grounds, and the views. The pool area was stunning, relaxed, and clean, with lovely sea views. We also enjoyed the hotel’s private jetty into the ocean. You can relax, sunbathe, and swim there, with a staff member on hand for drinks like beer, or to take a lunch order. I’d highly recommend staying here. I could easily have spent a week.

The food and drinks were excellent, with prices comparable to restaurants in the port. Ischia isn’t a cheap island since everything is imported. In 2025, we paid €7-8 for a beer and €18-35 for a bottle of wine, so budget accordingly. The gardens and shared spaces were immaculate, and the staff were fantastic and helpful. Most spoke Italian, German, and English. Our room was a little dated but spotlessly clean, and we had our own terrace with personal sunbeds. Daily room service was a nice plus. Food and drink quality was excellent, and prices were similar to the port restaurants. The hotel sits on a hillside in terraces, with steps between its different levels. There are two pools, though only the upper one is suitable for swimming, plus a private lido for sea access. It wasn’t fully occupied during our visit, so there was no trouble finding a sunbed. The harbour is either a taxi ride away or a short 15-minute walk down a path from the hotel. The hotel also runs a free shuttle at certain times.
