Hotel Royal Terme

We came for three nights and had a deeply disappointing stay. The room was dated and very basic, and mosquitoes bit all of us repeatedly. The hotel's condition made it seem well overdue for renovation. There was no towel replacement during the stay, breakfast was bland with few options, and the large, foul-smelling keychain was awkward to carry. Swimming caps were mandatory, but we weren't told about the charge until we arrived. We were also told we couldn't eat small snacks like crisps or nuts bought from a local shop in the general seating area, although there was no sign saying so. It left us wondering whether guests could even bring their own water. Service was unpleasant from check-in. Other guests were greeted warmly and told about the amenities and local area, while we were ignored and treated with hostility. The main receptionist, a tall man with glasses, was especially unpleasant. Checkout was listed as 11:00am, but at 10:40am he called and pressed us to hurry out. When we said the call felt unnecessary and rude, he answered, “It's not like we called you at 7am,” in an unprofessional tone. At checkout he then spoke about us in Italian to another staff member right in front of us. It felt disrespectful and arrogant. The laundry charge was another shock: we sent out three bags and were billed €300, with no price given beforehand. When we later asked for a price list, staff couldn't provide one. We felt taken advantage of. Night entertainment was loud and went well past 11pm, making it hard to sleep before early excursions. This fell far short of what I'd expect from a 4-star hotel. Between poor service, outdated rooms, unexpected charges and a lack of basic hospitality, I can't recommend staying here.

The building feels a bit old for a 5 stars hotel, but the service and staff were lovely. There are two warm thermal pools, an outdoor jacuzzi, a sauna, a steam room and other indoor pools. They even let us use the swimming pool and shower after checkout.

The rooms could use some renovation, and the Wi-Fi was a complete disaster. Still, the food, location and staff were absolutely amazing. Overall, good.

The room was a little small, but clean and comfortable. The staff were good, and any issues we had were resolved very quickly.
