Hotel Villa Durrueli Resort & Spa

The staff made us feel welcome and looked after throughout our stay. Lorenzo, Vincenzo, Valentina, Laura, Sara, and everyone whose names I didn’t catch were extraordinarily helpful and friendly. The rooms and everything else were very clean. We enjoyed the little spa, and there’s a lovely pool and a rooftop restaurant with a bar, beautiful sea views, and wonderful food. You can watch the kitchen at work, and breakfast has lots of choices. The location is handy, between Ischia port and the castle, with shops and restaurants in the area. Our room was lovely, though I should have booked a sea view.

We had a great six-night stay and are already thinking about coming back. There’s still plenty to see and do. The location is handy for the beach, shops, bars, restaurants, bus stops, and a big supermarket. The hotel was spotless, and housekeeping kept our spacious room immaculate and well stocked every day. It was modern, with a private balcony, and the wellness centre was relaxing and reserved for our exclusive use each day. Breakfast was excellent, with good vegan and vegetarian choices, and Sara and the other staff were attentive and accommodating. The rooftop bar has lovely views of the castle at night. We also loved the pool area, with lots of sunbeds, a snack bar, and a nice atmosphere. Reception staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Worth every penny for us.

Our first trip to Italy, especially Ischia, was magical, and we’ll definitely return. We visited for my husband’s 60th birthday. I’d emailed the hotel and restaurant ahead of time to ask if they could do something for his birthday, and the restaurant kindly said they would make one for him. It’s a stunning restaurant, with kind, very well-mannered and completely polite staff. The rooms are spacious, beautifully decorated, and cleaned every day. Breakfast was wonderful too, and the staff were incredible. Sarah, the breakfast manager, was so caring and kind. Laura was wonderful as well, always there when needed, knowledgeable about the area, and able to arrange trips. A huge thank you from the Skeldings to all the staff for their hard work and dedication.

The restaurant staff were kind and competent, and I’m grateful for their professionalism. The rest of our stay was really difficult, and I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. The walls between rooms are paper-thin. We lost our first night’s sleep because a very loud, rude man was talking in the bathroom on the other side of our headboard. Reception asked him to lower his voice, but it didn’t help. The plumbing seems antiquated: our toilet only flushed sometimes, hot water pressure was barely there, and the noise from other rooms’ plumbing woke us whenever a neighbour used the toilet. Reception said these were structural problems throughout the building and couldn’t offer a solution after we asked them to pass the issue to the manager. No room change, discount, or other gesture was offered, even after we said we wanted to leave early. We felt trapped, especially since they took the full payment on arrival plus a €100 deposit. They said that was their policy, but I’d never experienced that before. I also had to ask twice for an itemised bill. This does not feel like a 4-star hotel.
