Floripa Surf House

This was my first yoga retreat, and I’ll remember it for a long time. The garden shala was lovely for morning and evening practice, and there were plenty of quiet places to sit with a book. I stayed in the spacious room called „Studio“, which had a small kitchen and its own little terrace. The beach is only a few minutes away on foot, just across the street, and the water is very clean. It was windy much of the time, so staying on the beach wasn’t always possible, but we did manage a few walks. I also loved having the pets around. The cats are adorable, and some are happy to be petted. The chef Francesco made different things every day. If you’re vegan or have intolerances, you can tell them, and he’ll prepare something for you. As a vegan, I always had a nice alternative, which Francesco personally served. I’m grateful to him for the passion he puts into cooking. Dinner starts at 8 pm, and I had to get used to eating so late. There are extra yoga workshops for an additional charge if twice-daily practice isn’t enough.

The beach is wonderful, and there are great massages, osteopathic treatments, and plenty of water sports on offer there. But what makes this place special is the community they’ve created. It really feels like one family, staff and guests included. The yoga teachers are top-notch. They teach the asanas along with the other parts of yoga, and each one brings different ideas, music, and ways of practising. I’d love to keep this place a secret, but it’s just too good. Eating together at breakfast and dinner was really nice, and the vegetarian dinners were great. Everyone made us feel very welcome at this little gem near a lovely beach. The yoga teachers each bring a different perspective to their practice. Zuma Beach bar, the sister business, is an easy walk away, with sun loungers, a bar, and toilets.

I stayed for a week, and the food, facilities, hospitality, and staff were all amazing, well beyond what I expected. Everyone was kind and accommodating, and the meals were delicious. If you get the chance to visit this beautiful oasis, go. And book a massage with Lorenzo if you can. It was the best massage I’ve ever had. Thank you, Floripa House. I’ll be back one day.
