Hotel Federico II

We came for a wedding at a nearby venue. The restaurant food was amazing, though one night my boyfriend's meal didn't arrive until 10:30 pm. By then he was too tired to eat, so order early if you dine there. The hotel seemed good value and was nice overall. Our spacious room had effective AC and a shower that was always hot and powerful. Housekeeping came daily, and the place was very clean. Staff were consistently friendly. Breakfast had a huge selection, including hot eggs, beans, sausage and bacon. There was no smart TV or English language channels, and I found the beds a bit hard. We were disappointed to find the pool closed for our entire visit. Nobody told us beforehand, and it was hot, so we would have used it a lot.

We only spent one night, so didn't get to try the hotel's many facilities. It seems suited to a longer stay. The room was large and the service was good, though the hotel itself is a little old. Jesi is nearby, but sadly I didn't find it worth visiting.

The main issue was a shortage of staff, and it affected both meals. Breakfast offered little choice, the coffee machine was broken, and one waiter was alone handling around 50 seats. Everyone wanted coffee, but she couldn't keep up, so we went without. Dinner tasted good, but took two and a half hours. Just two waiters were serving more than 100 people, and they were rushing around constantly. It didn't seem fair to leave them with that many guests. One of those waiters was back at 7:00 the next morning, likely after only four or five hours of sleep. The café at reception was empty too, and you had to go looking for a bartender who was never there. I nearly didn't write this, since the location is nice, the shaded parking is spacious, and there's an EV charger. The pool was large and clean, with comfortable sunbeds and a pleasant café selling snacks and drinks. Our room was a bit small but had what we needed for a short stay. I could have given the place four or five stars if they had more staff.

The room was nice, the staff friendly, the price good, and breakfast was good too. There was no shampoo in the room. Dinner was a real letdown: expensive and poor enough that I'd rather go to McDonald's. The setting made me expect a good meal, but the experience was awful.
