Avani Rio Novo Venice Hotel

The location is the one good thing here. Our room was tiny, like an IKEA hotel, and smelled so strongly of bleach it seemed like they’d cleaned a crime scene. The air conditioning didn’t work, so I ended up asking to move rooms. Service was nonexistent, almost like a Motel 6 in the USA. I might check out the restaurant and bar later, though I’m not expecting much. Definitely, absolutely never coming back. Just give it one star.

We stayed three nights, two adults and a child, and would happily return. The hotel is in a great spot, close to the attractions but away from the big crowds, with plenty of bars, restaurants, good pizza, and lovely canals nearby. There’s also a canal right beside it where you can catch a water taxi to all the magical places. The building is new, the rooms are modern and clean, and the service was great. Breakfast brings out something new and local each day. You’ll love this place.

The staff made us feel genuinely welcome, and when a small problem came up, they sorted it out quickly and efficiently. Our room stayed very clean and well kept, with excellent housekeeping throughout. Breakfast was a real highlight, lots of sweet and savory choices, all delicious. It was one of the best hotel breakfasts we’ve had in Italy. The hotel is in a quiet, pleasant neighborhood, with good local restaurants nearby, and an easy walk to Piazzale Roma and the train station, which was especially convenient with luggage. We had a wonderful stay at Avani Rio Novo Venice, and it exceeded our expectations in a lot of ways. We’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful stay in Venice with excellent service.

The breakfast is amazing, and I love their olive oil so much I’m going to make it a staple in my kitchen at home. I saw it’s sold at Eataly in the US. The room was clean, and the hotel is trendy and well located. I’d recommend it 10/10. One thing to flag: the accessibility ramp to the main entrance is blocked behind the bushes, so it can’t really be used. I hope they’ll consider changing it for guests with accessibility needs and people carrying large suitcases.
