Hotel Speranza

The beach setup changed when we arrived. Two days before the trip, I asked about umbrellas and sunbeds and was quoted €10 a day. At reception, we were told it was actually €28 a day, and the beds would be farther back, from the middle of the beach toward the promenade, well away from the water. We also had a frustrating disagreement about the charge for our child. We’d booked a room for two adults through Booking. The hotel policy said children up to 18 stayed free, and I emailed to explain that our three-year-old would be with us, without needing an extra bed or anything else. They replied that children up to 10 stayed free and there’d be no added cost. Two days before arrival, I contacted them again and they seemed surprised we were three people. They said there’d be a €30-per-day charge, as though we hadn’t mentioned the child. I reminded them about our February email and the different answer they’d given. They then called it a communication error and said the fee was for the child’s bedding and amenities. I said that wasn’t acceptable since they’d already confirmed there’d be no extra charge, and told them I’d open a ticket with Booking. Check-in went smoothly, but on checkout day they called after us to say we owed €210, the €30-per-day child charge. I explained again that we’d told them in advance and had their email confirmation. Their final response was, “Yes, it’s fine after all.” I find it hard to believe they kept trying to charge us without a valid reason right up to the last moment, apparently to see if we’d agree. I don’t recommend the hotel. In my experience, they were dishonest and wouldn’t take responsibility for their own communication. They tried to change the information and spring extra charges on us. Be cautious and get everything in writing, though even that might not stop them trying to change things later.

I’ve been to this hotel twice, and it didn’t disappoint either time. The staff are great, the rooms are nice, and everything is very clean. There aren’t many options for kids, but it’s still very child-friendly, with a good atmosphere and respectful people. Staff all spoke English, and the location is great. I’d recommend it.

Just a minute’s walk from the beach, this is a great hotel with friendly staff and a very good breakfast for Italy. Our room was large and tidy, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean, and the shower worked perfectly. Definitely recommend it.

A very nice hotel, but the beach arrangements are poorly managed.
