Hotel L'Aquila

The location is right in the heart of town, and the beds are comfortable. Staff were polite and friendly, breakfast was good, and the rooms were clean with nice decor. The towels were high quality, and the wardrobe was a beautiful old piece of furniture. Still, my stay was spoiled by the morning showers. There was no hot water, or perhaps it was because everyone was showering at once, I can't say. Either way, starting the day with water that's barely warm was awful, and I can't overlook it. Sleep was hard too, since noise from outside carried on until the early hours. It sounded like all the city's nightlife was happening around the hotel.

Beautiful hotel, room, location, and view, with nice staff and owners. The breakfast was amazing quality. A real four-star hotel at an excellent price.

This was one of my worst hotel stays. It was a mess. The rooms are clearly old, and it looks like they may never have been painted since the place opened. The DND button is there to mean do not disturb, and don't enter a room someone has paid for. I had put it up, but staff still went in to clean while I was out. Some people, me included, don't want others touching their things. That felt disrespectful. There's also basically no minibar, just water. That's not the basic setup I'd expect from a four-star hotel. And the carpet was filthy, with bleach, wine, and all kinds of stains. It looked like it had never been replaced. I don't recommend it.
