The train itself is comfortable, but the ticket machine at the station is a terrible system. It can freeze when you try to buy a ticket, and when it does work, it’s painfully slow. Printing each ticket takes about 10 seconds. Even in Argentina we don’t have a system this bad. Buy tickets ahead of time at a tabacchi, or you might miss your train waiting for this machine.

Go by boat from La Spezia to monterosso, then take the train back. That way you see the coast from the sea and can visit all the villages on your way home.

It’s a fully equipped, very nicely renovated apartment with parking. Being right by the train station makes visiting Cinque Terre easy. We’d definitely stay here again next time we visit.

The apartment was spotless and just right. Silvia welcomed us warmly and gave us useful tips about places to visit. I recommend it.

A beautiful place, though getting there is difficult.
