La Mansarda Del Centro

The main drawback for me was the small bathroom. There’s no bidet and the sink is tiny, and I think taller or heavier people might find the toilet difficult to use. There’s no TV either, if that matters to you. Otherwise, the room was clean and well maintained, and it matched its description. La Mansarda del Centro is right in the heart of La Spezia, around 400 meters from the port for boats to the Cinque Terre. Cristina was very kind and helpful. The building has an elevator, despite what Booking says, though it’s a little small and goes up to the fifth floor where the rooms are. If you want to stay in the center without high expectations, it’s a good fit. At Cristina’s suggestion, contact her before booking on Booking.com to ask whether a direct discount is available.

The room was clean and the linen service was good, and having the elevator mattered since we were on the fifth floor. It was easy to get around from this central spot, and checking in later than we'd agreed was allowed. But we got almost no useful information. Cristina, the owner, couldn't suggest a breakfast bar, since breakfast wasn't included, or a place for typical local food. The next morning, when we met because we hadn't introduced ourselves yet, she came right into my room and leaned on my bed. At checkout, exactly at 10:00 AM, she came in again as if hurrying me out. I didn't find her helpful or courteous, at least by the standards I'm used to. She did give me a couple of pointers for getting to Portovenere.

Cristina made us feel at home, and we'll definitely return. She was ready with whatever information we needed to enjoy the stay, and the rooms were spotless and looked after well. Shops, cash machines, supermarkets, and other places to shop are all close by. The attic is near everything, with buses stopping just outside the house and the seafront about a ten-minute walk away, where you can catch a boat or bus to Cinque Terre and Portovenere. The price was really affordable, and Cristina was so kind and helpful. The rooms are bright, spacious, clean, and have all the comforts you need. The property is right in the city center, near services and amenities, with easy bus or ferry connections to Cinque Terre and Portovenere, two real Ligurian gems.
