I gave one star for the location and for the lady’s effort to communicate. The old facilities and bathroom door that wouldn’t close didn’t bother me, since I knew that when I booked. Still, fresh bedding and a fixed door seem like things you can provide. I wouldn’t have left a bad review if the last day hadn’t gone so badly. My bus was leaving late, and I asked for help booking a taxi because I don’t speak Italian or know the area. The bus stop was at least a 30-minute walk away, and it felt dangerous for a woman to walk alone. She didn’t seem to care. Her only concern was having me leave the keys behind the door. She said it was IMPOSSIBLE to get a taxi in La Spezia and that everyone walks, adding that once she tried calling one and it never came. I looked on my own and found a taxi very quickly. That’s not hospitality. If all you need is a bed, then yes.

The room had mosquitoes, hot water wasn’t reliable, and the bathroom kept flooding without anyone cleaning it. Guests left a mess, the “new” towels smelled moldy, there were no cleaning supplies, and even toilet paper was missing. I’ve already told Booking.com about the situation. The host’s attitude made everything worse. She was rude and aggressive, argued instead of giving basic check-in information, and seemed focused only on money. I have screenshots. Even at 21:00, she acted like a teacher on a school trip. She was hostile and uncooperative, so I had to sort things out through Booking.com. Other reviews seem to describe the same recurring problem. From start to finish it was a disaster, far from what you’d expect of a decent place. Save yourself the trouble and avoid it.

The owner was unpleasant, and the setup included what seemed like a fake kitchen, without plumbing or gas, with two beds in it. There was one bathroom for six people. I hate giving one star and would give this place even less. It could be used as a shelter for homeless people. NOT RECOMMENDED!!!

I was just 10 minutes late, but she cancelled my reservation, wouldn’t let me in, and hung up on me. I filed a complaint about the hotel. Shame on her. Don’t ever go there!

One floor has been turned into rooms, with a tiny, squalid shared bathroom at the end, which wasn’t what the advert described. This place belongs in a museum of 1800s living conditions. I hope I don’t come away with some Victorian disease to complete the experience. Don’t book it, run the other way.
