The pool was a big hit with the kids and adults alike, and the spa was a lovely way to unwind after skiing. We also enjoyed the varied, delicious food, and our room was comfortable and well suited to us. With the supermarket and other amenities close by, everything was easy. We were a group of 16, eight adults and eight children with different ability levels, and the slopes in La Thuile had plenty to keep everyone happy. Planibel Hotel & Residence was an ideal base. It sits right by the main gondola, which made meeting the children’s ski instructors and getting on the slopes each day so straightforward. We had a wonderful stay and would happily return.

We were a party of sixteen and the hotel worked perfectly for our group. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout, the buffet breakfast and dinner had loads of choice and were excellent, and drinks were reasonably priced. We’re planning to come back, and I’d happily recommend the place. We spent a week there over February half term on a half-board basis. The lifts are right next door, the rooms are spacious and clean, and the modern hotel is well maintained. The pool was great, though you have to bring a swim cap and there are no free towels. The adults-only spa was a real plus, and the kids’ club was a welcome extra. We were also pleasantly surprised by the band playing in the bar every evening.

The pool and spa were excellent, but remember to book ahead. The hotel is perfectly placed for heading up the mountain, though the locker room gets crowded in the mornings. We had a comfortable, well-appointed room on the fourth floor facing the ski lifts, with good food overall. Some dishes weren’t quite perfect, which is understandable when the hotel caters for large groups. Our room was above the bar, and the band played until midnight. It bothered us at first, but we got used to it. When I asked about moving, the team were great and offered us an apartment instead.

Our family group of nine, aged from 4 to 66, found this hotel just right for us. The rooms were nicely equipped, the food had lots of variety and was excellent, and the location for the slopes couldn’t be better. Many thanks.

The best part is the location, close to the slopes, and there’s ski storage. Reception staff were kind and helpful, though their English wasn’t especially strong. The rooms look fairly modern and were generally clean, but some things were already in poor repair: soap dispensers, bedside lamps, and water dripping onto a windowsill. The noise from that drip made it hard to sleep. Internet access was dreadful, with very low speeds and lots of packet loss. Oddly, the meeting room on the seventh floor, where you’d expect a reliable connection to matter, seemed to have the worst signal. There was a decent range of food, but several people in our group got food poisoning despite eating only at the hotel. When reception said this was fairly common, it left us wondering why. The restaurant staff were unfriendly, and the utensils often looked unwashed. They seemed more focused on walking between tables and taking plates as soon as people stopped eating than on washing dishes. At best, I’d call this a three-star hotel. I’ve stayed in three-star places that were much better, and a four-star hotel should meet a higher standard than this.
