Hotel Patrizia

We stayed four nights and are on our third as I write this, so we’ve had a decent chance to get a feel for the place. It’s a no-frills B&B hotel, and the rooms are clean, the beds comfortable, and the furniture practical. The bathroom is a good sign of a hotel’s condition: everything worked, it was spotless, and the shower enclosure seemed new, though the water pressure was a bit weak. The staff are friendly, and they speak enough English to get us through despite our complete lack of Italian. Room cleaning is unbelievably quick. We leave for breakfast and come back to a made bed and cleaned room. Breakfast is a standard continental spread of cold cuts, cheese, cereal, yogurt and cakes, and it’s a pretty good offering for the room price. We’ve eaten out each day, so I can’t comment on lunch or dinner. There’s no air conditioning, but the large ceiling fan in the bedroom keeps things cool enough in the evening. The hotel is a 10-15 minute walk from town and the beach, uphill with quite a lot of steps, so it may be difficult if your fitness or mobility is below moderate. There’s limited parking out front, but even parking beside the hotel still leaves steep steps up to the lobby and rooms. The public areas look like they’re from the late 70s or early 80s. They’re dated, but not worn out, and there’s almost something chic about it. As a child of the 70s, I still find it looks old-fashioned. Nothing wrong with it, though.
