The room was comfortable and had what we needed for a short stay, and the reception staff were polite, though some were warmer than others. It’s fine for one night, but quite far from the city centre. Taxis cost a lot, and after 8 pm there are fewer public transport options, so getting into town can be inconvenient. We were there for a wedding, and breakfast was the difficult part. It was included at a cost of €15 per person and served until 10:00 am. We arrived at 9:50 am and checked with reception about finishing by 10:00. We said we’d quickly serve ourselves and wouldn’t go back to the buffet after 10:00, so staff could clear it. The receptionist said that was fine. At about 9:54, while I was still getting food, staff started removing items from the buffet even though they could see me there and it wasn’t yet 10:00. I was disappointed but didn’t raise it. Then, as soon as we sat down at 9:55, a staff member told us we had to finish by 10:00. I asked if she expected us to eat everything in four or five minutes, and she confirmed breakfast ended at 10:00. I said I couldn’t eat that fast and that we were quietly sitting at a corner table, not bothering anyone. Nobody else was in the breakfast area. We assured her we wouldn’t return to the buffet and would leave shortly after eating, but it was clear we weren’t welcome to take a few extra minutes. Other breakfast staff said nothing and kept clearing things while looking our way, as if waiting for us to go. It felt very uncomfortable and unwelcoming. To avoid more awkwardness, we offered to take a tray up to our room on the third floor. She just said “fine” and walked away. The whole thing felt unnecessarily rushed. I work for Accor Hotels, and I’ve never experienced that kind of inflexibility or lack of hospitality elsewhere. I skipped breakfast at the hotel the next morning, and this experience has made me reconsider staying here again.
