We spent seven days here, and it was a nightmare. The room itself was clean, but there was no room service and reception was never staffed. We had to call a number we could barely find, and someone rudely told us the keys were outside. At night the hotel smelled awful, and the air conditioning didn’t work. I don’t understand the 4.4-star rating. Sardinia is a wonderful island, but this hotel was awful. Never again. If you’re considering it, I’d suggest spending a little more elsewhere. Please don’t stay here.

We’re enjoying our stay. The hosts are friendly and make the place feel homely, and it’s clean. The views from Lanusei reach across to the ocean, Arbatax, and the Tortoli lagoon.

I stayed at the Hotel Marie Claire almost two months ago, and I’m not sure why it took me so long to write this. I was riding around the island in search of twisty roads when the rain started getting heavier, so I did a quick search and found this gem. Luigi and Giuliani couldn’t have been nicer. They made me feel welcome even though I was dripping water across their tiled floors. Luigi had lived in California for a while, and Giuliani had spent several years in Germany, so both speak English and German as well as Italian. The hotel was clean and comfortable, in a beautiful part of the world, and exactly what I needed. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

This is an Airbnb, not a hotel. We didn’t see anyone, and the room keys were left outside.
