A great place to stop for a meal or to spend a long break on the trail, whether you’re heading higher up or walking for a while. It’s especially handy for hikers going towards Pizzo Scalino or Switzerland. From the dam at Campo Moro or the car park just before it, the walk takes about 30-40 minutes. The rooms are what you’d expect at a refuge, and the service is top notch.

We stayed one night at the refuge last winter, then came back for another night this August. It’s a wonderful place, clean and welcoming, with a great atmosphere thanks to Giancarlo and the people working with him.

The refuge manager was friendly and happy to have a chat, and the service was impeccable for a refuge. Meals were excellent at dinner, breakfast, and lunch. Our room was spotless and had its own bathroom, and we could even switch the heating on although it was July. I’d highly recommend this refuge, especially for families with children.
