Hotel Europa

Our group of seven stayed four nights, July 24-27, 2025, for a 50th wedding anniversary. After a long flight, we arrived late at night and DIEGO at reception welcomed us and reassured us that our reservation was in order. It made a great first impression. CLAUDIO was a wonderful host at breakfast each morning. He reserved a table for all seven of us every day and prepared extras that weren’t on the set menu, including scrambled eggs, pancakes, and fungi. I also saw him chatting a little with other guests. He and his colleague SIMONE worked well together. ERICA helped arrange transportation to drive us to the church. She was always smiling and cheerful. SERENA was also a big help with my printing needs. I like to write about the staff because they’re the face and living billboards of a hotel.

We’re back for our second stay and still love it. The location in Latina is hard to beat, and the staff are so friendly and helpful. Breakfast is delicious and beautifully done.

The staff were consistently pleasant, greeted me, and helped us book tables at local restaurants. They’re the main reason this hotel avoids a one-star review. I was here for a week on a business trip. The location was convenient enough, but otherwise the stay fell short. My room was unpleasant: the beds were extremely hard, and the pillows so thin I had to stack them. The cotton sheets felt scratchy, and the comforter was polyester. The bathroom was much larger than needed. The shower never got hot enough, and the pressure wasn’t great, though it could still shove the shower head around at full power, which says more about the fixture than the water. I could overlook those things, but there was no coffee, kettle, or fridge in the room, mini bar excluded. Breakfast barely counted as breakfast. The coffee tasted good, but you had to order it, so getting more than one small cup was difficult. The buffet was sparse, and when the eggs ran out, they didn’t seem to bring more. The gym had two treadmills, a bike, an elliptical, a stair-stepper, and a broken weight machine. I wound up exercising in my room. The pool was so tiny that I couldn’t see the point of having an attendant at the spa, though one was there. Parking was awful. The only choice was a large open lot beside the hotel, which raised real security concerns. The payment machine wouldn’t accept cards and actually swallowed one when I tried. You also can’t pay at the hotel for your whole trip.

Breakfast was good, with plenty of pastries, eggs, bacon, ham, and fruit, and the staff were friendly and professional. The pool was decent too. The hotel is nice, but I don’t think it merits four stars, maybe three. It seems to lean on having a gym, pool, and spa, but the gym is a tiny cupboard-sized room with four broken pieces of equipment from the 80s. The spa is run by another company, so the sauna and other facilities cost extra. The rooms are modern and cleaned daily, though not spotless. They have air conditioning, but it’s noisy. The towels should be replaced because they’re starting to feel like cardboard. Wi-Fi becomes unusable after 9 PM.
