Hotel Dolomiti Levico

If you liked the movie the shining, this place may be for you. There isn't a clear entrance: you can wander in through the bar, a side door, the garden, or the garage. It feels like the place is 100 years old and badly needs renovation. It looks like a family-run business, which might explain the open living room beside the bar. There also seem to be two reception areas, but nobody was there. I had to go into the kitchen to find someone. We were a very big group, and everyone had similar experiences. The halls have old, dirty carpet from the 70s, and the lighting is so poor it adds to the spooky feeling. Our room was partly renovated, with a new floor and wardrobe, but the bathroom was like grandma's, old and in need of renovation too. We couldn't stop laughing at breakfast. It felt 40 years out of date, with not one fresh item in sight and no fruit or vegetables. The bread was dry, there was no proper muesli, just cheap, highly processed cereals and individually packed "pastries". The cereal bowls were ridiculously small. Don't even ask for soy milk or any "modern" food commodity. They probably only started boiling the eggs once the hotel was booked by our travel organizers. If you have internet, you shouldn't end up here. Go somewhere else. People from our gruppetto ;) who stayed at other hotels in the area had a better experience. The only other guests in the hotel clearly had no access to the internet. They were all 65+. I repeat, don't stay here. It should have -3 stars. Run and book somewhere else.

We had a pleasant stay, with simple but clean rooms and decent meals in a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. The pool looking out toward the mountains was a lovely extra, and the lake is only a few steps away.

You get good value for what you pay.
